Welcome to the Somerville High School Media Center
Dear Somerville High School families,
Hello, I am June Ambs, a media specialist at Somerville High School. With experience in schools and libraries, I am passionate about working with students. As a teacher/librarian, I aim to inspire students to love learning and reading and to guide them in information and digital literacy. I completed my MLIS degree at Rutgers University with a specialization in school library media.
Our media center program goal is to meet the diverse needs of every student and our mission is to enhance active learning and deep knowledge while creating ideas essential to the 21st Century. The media center encourages shared inquiry, critical thinking, and reflection as students participate in authentic learning activities. The media center fosters an environment where students develop their technological and information literacy skills to effectively learn, make informed decisions, and share knowledge with others as they become lifelong learners.
This website showcases some of the daily happenings that occur within the media center including upcoming Makerspace. Our Makerspace is a creative community workspace where our students build and experiment with technology, arts and craft projects while sharing tools and ideas with other students and staff members.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested in learning more about any of the projects featured here. Enjoy!
